Dualmode Laser – Combines fractionated technology harnessing the power of Erbium:YAG and CO2.

Dualmode focuses 1000’s of very fine columns of light energy to penetrate the outer layer of the skin into the underlying dermis. The columns of light energy result in vaporisation and coagulation of the tissue stimulating the body’s own healing response to produce new collagen and elastin.

This process targets the outer layer of the skin while also stimulating the deeper layers. The outer layer benefits from smoother texture and more even tone, while the deeper layers experience changes that support overall skin quality and the appearance of wrinkles.

The advantage of fractionated technology means that interspersed between the columns of light energy there are untouched and uninjured skin cells. These cells form the basis for rapid healing ultimately leading to reduced downtime while maintaining the powerful results. Traditional laser treatments would cause injury to the entire top layer of the skin resulting in prolonged healing times and increased risk of complications.

Dualmode lasers are therefore a powerful way to also improve scar quality. The epidermal layer is often thinner and more fragile in scars and the dermal layer is thickened and firm with irregular deposition of collagen. Dualmode laser treatment can result in improved quality and texture of the epidermis reducing fragility, reduced redness by shrinking small blood vessels and thinning and re-orientating collagen in the dermis producing softer thinner scars.

What to expect during your Dualmode Procedure?

Every new patient to our clinic receives an individual, in depth consultation with one of our cosmetic nurses. The nurse will assess all areas of concern, your aesthetic goals and discuss options to produce optimal results. Prior to your treatment, your nurse will take clinical photographs of the areas to be treated.

Your skin will be adequately cleansed, prepared and marked for treatment, a prescription topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to ensure maximum comfort throughout your treatment.
The treatment itself takes approximately 15-30mins dependent on the area of treatment.

It is common to experience a warm, sunburn feeling immediately post treatment and cold compressed can be applied if required. After your treatment is complete, specific after care
skin products are gently applied to the skin and aftercare instructions are given.

What are the considerations and risks for Dualmode laser treatments?

While Dualmode laser is generally a universally safe treatment, certain considerations must be assessed. Contraindications which must be disclosed to your practitioner include:

What is the recovery period for Dualmode laser?

Immediately after your treatment your skin may appear red, feel warm and slightly swollen. We recommend using cool compresses that evening if you continue to feel warmth and to maintain comfort. This feeling is commonly related to feeling like a mild sunburn and may linger for the first 24-48 hours.

Dualmode laser delivers amazing results with very little downtime compared to fully ablative lasers.

Downtime varies between individuals, however is typically minimal and will last between 5-7 days. Most commonly your skin may feel dry and tight, and you may experience light grazing and shedding of skin. During this time, we recommend avoiding use of makeup. SPF 50 must be applied every 2 hours and a hat is recommended.

It is vital in following the aftercare instructions explained by your clinician to ensure optimal results and healing. Depending on the degree of pigment, scarring or blemishes, an area can be treated with as little as two or three treatments.
In order to amplify your results even further, we recommend complementing your Dualmode with dermal filler and wrinkle relaxer treatments, suitable at 2 week intervals pre and post laser treatments.
